“I came from the good old days! A serious idol, seriously an idol! I’m Yuffie, also known as Yufu Terashima. I’m a solo idol who ABSOLUTELY LOVES all local yuru-chara (mascots)!”

I used to love the former “Yuru-chara Grand Prix.” At first, as a fan, I was moved by its passionate energy. Then, starting in 2014, I had the honor of appearing as an MC for the event. Working alongside them, I was deeply touched every single time by the wonderful chain of support: the mascots and staff working hard for their local regions, and the fans working hard to support those mascots.

I am extremely happy that we are now able to launch the new World LocalCharacters Grand Prix.! By creating a massive festival that serves as a shared goal for everyone, it becomes easier for mascots to know how to focus their efforts, and it creates far more opportunities for them to be discovered.

How much peace and happiness do local mascots bring us with their cuteness and relaxed charm? How much do they connect different regions together? How much of a huge economic impact do they create?

As a human idol, I will do everything in my power to spread the charm and hard work of my beloved mascots to an even wider audience! Using my knowledge and experience as a dedicated mascot otaku, I hope to lend my strength so that every single mascot gets the spotlight they deserve!
